Since 1991 Albert "Bert" Tobia and Dora J. Hillyer have been partners in Tobia & Hillyer Tax and Business Services, Inc., located in Fairfield, New Jersey. Bert and Dora have been in the income tax business since 1970.
Dora J. Hillyer is an Income Tax Specialist and earned her Enrolled Agent designation in 1986, federally authorizing her to prepare tax returns and licensing her to represent Clients before the U.S. Department of Treasury and all administrative levels of the IRS. Ms. Hillyer is also a Certified Financial Planner™ and Elder Care Specialist. She is the current treasurer and past president of The Rotary of The Caldwells and past president of the North Essex Chamber of Commerce. She is an active member of the National Society of Accountants. Her career started 40 years ago in Des Moines, Iowa and relocated to New Jersey in 1983.
Bert Tobia is also an Enrolled Agent, Income Tax Specialist, and lecturer. He sits on the advisory board at Essex Community College and is a past chairman of the Board for Essex Catholic High School. He was appointed, in the name of the Archdiocese of Newark, as a member of the Board of Trustees of Christ the King Preparatory School in 2010. He is a member and the Treasurer of the Allied Business Consultants. He was inducted into the Essex Catholic Hall of Fame. Bert is also a member of the Lakeland Bank Advisory Board and a registered representative of First Allied Securities. He was honored as a Most Distinguished American of Italian Descent in 2006 and was listed as an Honored Professional of the National Directory of Who's Who.
Bert and Dora are both members of the NATP (National Association of Tax Professionals) and have both been active members of the North Essex Chamber of Commerce for 19 years.
Tobia & Hillyer's areas of expertise are personal and business taxes. They have been quoted in many major and local newspapers in addition to national magazines. They have given presentations to various groups including Chamber of Commerce, Board of Realtors, major brokerage houses, civic groups, savings and insurance institutions. In addition, they are on staff for continuing education credits at the West Caldwell Adult School and the Kovats School of Real Estate & Insurance. They have also appeared on various cable and network TV and radio shows and have participated on the Governor's panel promoting home ownership in New Jersey.
